Dear Colleagues, one of the goals of European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS) is to be leaders in education for Paediatric Orthopaedics in Europe. Childhood diseases may have significant impact throughout adult life with enormous personal, societal and economic costs. Only by having well trained orthopaedic surgeons will it be possible to ensure that the correct treatment is provided to the whole population. The EPOS Educational Committee has set up the BAT (Basic, Advanced & Traumatology) educational program. The advanced courses are aimed at paediatric orthopaedic surgeons or general orthopaedic surgeons who want to update their knowledge in specific topics in paediatric orthopaedics. In accordance with its pioneering mission to generate and distribute modern information in the field of paediatric orthopaedics, EPOS has decided this year to dedicate its annual advanced course including hands-on sessions on cadavers and sawbones to the early and late surgical treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). So, it is our pleasure to invite you to the EPOS BAT Advanced Course “Hip Surgery from Infancy to Young Adulthood” that will take place on 23-24 January 2020 in Palma de Mallorca (Spain), the course is compliant with the MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice.

This advanced course includes theoretical lectures, presentations on surgical techniques in DDH, case discussions, and hands-on sessions on cadavers and sawbones. The faculty, composed of internationally recognized experts in the field from all over Europe, will spend 2 days sharing the most current knowledge through the unique perspective of their experience. Attendees will have a chance to practice techniques in hands-on sessions. The EPOS BAT advanced course, including hands-on sessions on cadavers in Palma, will again be organized with the close collaboration of the Fundació Universitat-Empresa de les Illes Balears and the Faculty of Medicine of UIB and the Hospital Universitari Son Espases. EPOS is willing to continue this close collaboration with its new educational partners in Palma in the future. Treatment innovations are often as a result of collaboration between clinicians and industry and our industry partners have and will contribute significantly to the educational content of these courses. We invite orthopaedic surgeons who are willing to update their knowledge and improve their skills in preventive hip surgery from infancy to young adulthood to Palma in January 2020. We will do our utmost to meet and exceed your expectations.
